Microsoft Word – Start Page Numbers on Page 2

Microsoft Word – Start Page Numbers on Page 2

How do I start page numbering on the second page in my Word document?
By default, when you add page numbers to a Word document, the first page is set to page number one. If your first page is a cover page or title page, it often makes more sense to label the second page in your document as page 1 and then number the pages from that point forward.
In order to make Word assign page number 1 to the second page in your document, do the following:
  1. Insert your page number in the footer of your document. Within the footer, click on the Page number within the Header and Footer Design Tab.
  2. Cick on Format Page Numbers
  3. In the new dialog box, select the Start At option and change the number to 0 then click OK
  4. While still on the Design tab, in the Options group, check the box that says Different First Page
